Also the achievements crashed my game, and even after it was patched they don't unlock. I'm not a fan of the way Zach likes to skimp on the explanations though. I will say I like the way the story is told even though the story itself is meh so far. I just defeated the golem so there should be a new biome next, but I likely won't be able to finish the game before it leaves so I might not bother. Had they made the runs shorter and more consistently challenging like Darkest Dungeon I would have liked it better. I got my podcasts on so it was ok but they really could have shaved off some of the bloat. And most of the time it's pretty easy so it's just going through the motions until you encounter the boss. I think counting my deaths I went through the cave floor 15+ times with only slight variations and a few new enemies. But it feels like I'm just going through the same boring Diablo cave over and over. The combat is enjoyable, although simple so far. Might still go back and finish it at some point because the world is really well made.Ĭhildren of Morta: It's decent. But I liked it more than Death's Door at least. I don't like the stamina or the the limited health pool that requires constant potions and the combat feels spammy. It's a very cozy world and it has fun secrets and stuff. Tunic: I can see why a lot of people would love this. Game is so far up its own ass with giving you zero instructions either. It tries to copy so many things from the Souls game and it can't even get the combat right which is the main thing. So I'm just stuck in this area because if I try to go back to the other area, I'll have to run through an entire area again backtracking. The health items do absolutely nothing (takes all 4 I have to heal to like 90% health). 5% of his health bar every attack, while he practically one shots me. I managed to stumble into a boss fight and I do like. The dodge and attack feel so off and unresponsive. Oh here's 3 of them at once AND some range enemies that never get up to melee range. How am I even supposed to improve my character if there's no way to improve my stats except pick up a random items in a chest? Oh, a crocodile enemy that take 10 hits to kill. I feel like there's barely any way to improve my character so I'm just whacking my head against a wall with the sluggish combat. Tunic is kicking my ass and I don't think the game is very good at all. I love the Souls games and usually have no problem with them. I really need Sarah Bond to make the Wandersong deal again, so I can recommend it to more people :< Sarah, please.
I can't speak to these two personally, but have you tried Unpacking and Undertale? They've been on my list forever XD. Life is Strange: True Colors is delightful and about 15 hours? If you end up liking Going Under (or if you kinda like it, but want something with less dungeon depth and more character focus), then Boyfriend Dungeon is similarly long but quite engaging.
Battletoads isn't overly long and I think it's highly underrated. Getting into slightly longer games, Outer Wilds is about 15-20 hours, but it's maybe my favorite game of last gen (or. Iono if it's "fun", but it's well regarded and only a couple hours. Other recommendations are: TMNT has great reviews and is new. I also had my fill of Omno after about 3 hours (def not done with it by then), but I did enjoy it. I did bounce of Moonglow Bay, but you'll know after a bit if you like it.
Forgotten City (I'd say you can get through in like ~7 hours, but I did everything and took about 12). But these are indeed amazing games :) My personal favorites here are Donut County, Citizen Sleeper, Paradise Killer, Gorogoa. Click to shrink. You are not finishing superliminal in 2 hours, surely.
